TB Education and Training Resource Guide—INTRODUCTION (Printable Version)
Return to Table of Contents
The Tuberculosis Education and Training Resource Guide was developed as a cooperative
effort between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National
Prevention Information Network (NPIN) and the CDC Division of Tuberculosis Elimination
(DTBE).
The purpose of this guide is to give health departments, lung associations,
and providers of health care and health education knowledge of and access to
materials on tuberculosis (TB) education, training, and public awareness. It
also provides general information about TB for patients and the general public.
Reproduction of this guide, which is also available online at www.cdcnpin.org/scripts/tb/guide/toc.asp,
is encouraged. However, copies may not be sold, and the CDC NPIN should be cited
as the source of the information.
| Disclaimer: The information in the Tuberculosis Education and Training
Resource Guide is made available as a public service. Neither CDC nor NPIN
endorses the organizations and materials represented. It is the responsibility
of the user to evaluate this information prior to use based on individual
needs and community standards. |
HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE
This resource guide is divided into five sections:
- Educational Materials for Patients and the General Public
- Educational Materials for Health Professionals
- Organizations
- Internet Resources
- Funding Opportunities
An index system is presented at the end of this guide (PDF
Version Only), beginning on page 219, to help you navigate the guide. The
indices are organized by:
- Distributing organization (page 219)
- Format (page 235)
- Language (page 247)
- Target audience (page 255)
- Title (page 285)
You may also want to refer to the Table of Contents and
the Table of Contents Organizational Chart (PDF
Version Only) for further guidance in finding materials that meet your TB
education and training needs.
Journal articles are not represented in this guide because any list of "current"
articles would quickly be outdated as new research emerges. To find the most
up-to-date journal articles on TB, visit Medline,
which includes references and abstracts from 4,500 biomedical journals.
Although this guide focuses primarily on TB resources produced in the United
States, at the end of each "Educational Materials" section, you will
find a list of significant TB resources available from international sources
such as the World Health Organization.
Below is a sample entry layout from the "Educational Materials" section.
Take note of how information is presented here before you begin your search.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
With this guide, we have tried to create the most robust and comprehensive
collection of TB education and training materials available. However, this is
a dynamic process and we need your help to keep this collection up to date.
If you or your organization has any TB educational or training materials, please
submit your materials to be included in the next version of the Tuberculosis
Education and Training Resource Guide.
On the next page, you'll find a submission request that can be used to submit
materials to CDC NPIN. The request can be filled out and then submitted via
U.S. mail or fax to the address/number below:
CDC National Prevention Information Network
Attn: Information Sciences Manager
P.O. Box 6003
Rockville, MD 20849-6003
Fax: 888-282-7681, Attn: Information Sciences Manager
The submission request is also available electronically via the NPIN
Website.
At the time of submission, please send two complimentary copies of your materials
to NPIN. Although the submission request will assist us in cataloging materials,
it is not required. If you would prefer not to fill out the request, you may
simply send two copies of your materials to the address listed above. These
copies will be distributed to NPIN's resource centers located in Maryland and
Georgia and will be available for viewing by the general public, health professionals,
community service providers, government agencies, and other interested audiences.
To edit or update any information presented in this guide, photocopy the page
that requires correction, mark up correction(s) as appropriate, and mail or
fax to the address/telephone number provided above. Follow the same procedure
if an item listed in the guide is no longer available and therefore needs to
be removed.
Thank you for helping make the Tuberculosis Education and Training Resource
