Health Officials Investigating Active Tuberculosis Cases in Grand Forks County

Abstract
The North Dakota Department of Health, Grand Forks Public Health Department, and Altru Health System are currently investigating three cases of active TB in Grand Forks County. All three cases were identified: one man in his 20s and two other men in their 40s. Health officials are currently investigating to identify those who may have been in contact with the men and exposed to the disease. Those individuals considered at risk will be contacted and counseled concerning testing procedures for TB. All three cases have stated that they do not have a permanent address and have been staying with friends and family, but have not stayed in a shelter. Through information gathered while testing, it appears the three cases may be linked to previously confirmed cases in the area. For further information, contact Dee Pritschet, North Dakota Department of Health, at (701)328-2377, or Grand Forks Public Health, at (701)787-8100.
