Stanford University to Create HIV Education Software for Assam
Abstract
TeachAIDS, a nonprofit social venture originating from Stanford University, will create a customized version of its HIV education software for Assam, a state in northeastern India, in cooperation with Assam’s government. Global health leader Cigna is supporting the project with a $200,000 investment. The investment will also support the development of regionally-customized TeachAIDS software for Karnataka, a state in southwestern India. These regional versions will supplement other earlier versions launched in the Telugu and English languages featuring the voices of popular Bollywood stars. India has the third-highest number of HIV-infected people in the world, after South Africa and Nigeria.
