Approximately 4,500 people participated in the AIDS Foundation of Chicago’s 11th Annual Run and Walk at Soldier Field. The foundation estimates that the event raised about $375,000, not including corporate sponsorships. The money will benefit about 35 organizations that address HIV and AIDS issues in the Chicago area. There are approximately 25,000 individuals infected with HIV in the Chicago area, according to the foundation. Many at the run talked about how much medical treatment for AIDS and public perception of the disease have changed over the last few decades.
