George Michael's Gallery, Auctions Help AIDS Charity
Abstract
A gala and art exhibition called “Re:Define” will be held at Goss Gallery, Dallas, Texas, on Saturday night September 22, as a fundraiser for the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. The Staying Alive Foundation is a London-based charity that raises funds for HIV/AIDS. The fundraiser features live and silent auctions of works created by about 30 artists, including the British artist Dave White. During the exhibition, White will paint an American eagle, which will be available for auction. Other works include an oil painting by Marc Quinn worth $250,000 and works by the German photographer Juergen Teller, street artist Swoon, and Ireland’s Michael Craig-Martin. The Goss Gallery is run by the Goss-Michael Foundation, a nonprofit founded by singer and art collector George Michael and his partner Kenny Goss. Last year’s exhibition raised about $700,000.
