HHS Awards New Grants for HIV/AIDS Care

Abstract
New grants totaling $68 million have been awarded by the Health and Human Services Department to support comprehensive HIV/AIDS care for women, youths and infants. HHS said the grants, issued through the federal Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, will help 114 hospitals, health departments and community groups assist patients with limited or no access to treatment. Three particular populations are set to benefit from the funding: newly diagnosed individuals, HIV patients who lack care, and those who have been out of care for more than one year. “This will help women, infants and children with HIV get the care and treatment they need by increasing access to comprehensive, coordinated primary care,” said a statement from HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
