Health officials have identified 50 people who need to undergo TB testing at Tampa’s MacDill Air Force Base, where an employee has the disease. The Hillsborough County Health Department was notified of the case on July 12. Investigators have looked for possible exposure on base, at the patient’s home, and elsewhere. “We really have limited it to 50 people at this point. It’s a small group,” said HCHD spokesperson Steve Huard. The initial patient is now isolated and undergoing treatment. Hillsborough County reported 85 of the 835 TB cases logged by the Florida Department of Health in 2010.
