Indiana Encourages Pregnant Women to Get HIV Tests

| On World AIDS Day last Tuesday, the Indiana State Department of Health and several partner organizations kicked off a campaign to encourage pregnant women to be tested for HIV. More than 8,000 US children have acquired HIV from their mothers, making this the most common route of infection for this population, the department said. “One Test, Two Lives” targets pregnant women with the message that knowing their own HIV status is vital to protecting their children. Riley Hospital for Children, the Indiana University School of Medicine, and the Indiana Perinatal Network Clarian Health are supporting the effort.
