National American Indian AIDS Summit (NAIAS)
Description
| This national summit will attempt to find better health care delivery systems in both rural and urban settings in HIV/AIDS prevention and education for the Native American Indian community. The summit is designed to raise awareness of the threat HIV/AIDS poses to this community, due to public policy issues that are affecting funding and other health care aspects. The conference will also provide the opportunity to increase awareness of the devastating and disproportionate effects of AIDS in the Native American Indian community, having the third highest rates of HIV infection per 100,000, while only representing less then 1% of the population. Federal entities including IHS, CDC, HRSA, and many others will present workshops and round table discussions. Native American representatives from tribes throughout the USA will be asked to attend. |
