Little Prick- "It's just a swab or finger prick to know your HIV status"
"Little Prick" was a multi-media effort aimed at increasing HIV testing among men who have sex with men (MSM) and who are at highest risk for HIV infection. The campaign slogan was an attention-grabber based on focus groups with MSM, with the "mascot" of a smiling finger reminding viewers how easy it is to get tested. The primary message was: "It's the little prick you can deal with. It's just a swab or finger prick to know your HIV status. No condoms? Test often…" One innovative component of the campaign was an online three-month testing reminder. Individuals could visit the campaign website - www.homohealth.org/littleprick.htm (now offline) - to sign up for an automated three-month HIV testing email reminder. Because of the public nature of the billboards and chalk drawings, the local Chamber of Commerce, neighborhood council, and Seattle Schools were also contacted to ensure acceptability of the campaign.
